Department of Geography

The Department of Geography started functioning since 2003 with thirty-five Honours students and thirty General students under Calcutta University. 2010 onwards the Department, as well as College, came under West Bengal State University, Barasat. The department is well-equipped with learning resources and has a very strong alumnus who provides support for the betterment of the Department. Department arranges field trips, brings out wall magazine and different activities annually and also provide a favourable academic environment for teaching-learning processes in the college.

Infrastructural Facilities

Seminar Library : Both reading and lending facilities are available in the U.G. Seminar Library where books on contemporary issues in Geography are available.

Laboratory Facility : Instruments like Prismatic Compass, Dumpy Level, Theodolite, Total Station Mirror Stereoscope, Pocket Stereoscope, GPS etc. are available for regular classes as well as for field surveys.

GIS Laboratory : Well-furnished GIS Laboratories with more than 6 computers are there in the department.

Internet Access : The department provides free internet access to students.

Digital Classroom : All the classrooms of UG the section is furnished with LCD Projector where teaching with modern ICT facility is provided.
