Sanskrit is the oldest, scientifically-structured and living language on our planet. The Department of Sanskrit started its journey with Bachelor of Arts programme as General Course in 2003 and as Honours Course in 2005. Now The department is located in The Ambedkar-Bhaban of Belda College. The Department is equipped with computer, smart class room and accessories. The Department provides the students with latest developments in Sanskrit knowledge and consistently engage in academic activities to catapult The Department to newer heights. The faculty in Sanskrit Department have specialization in different branches of knowledge. Since its inception, the Department has remained engaged in popularizing the study of Sanskrit Language and Literature in the students and region. The Department also organizes Sanskrit Literary Programme in the rural areas. The Department recurrently organizes seminar, workshop and lecture programme. The objective of our Department is to establish literary, cultural, moral and sacramental importance in the present social context and values.

Course: The Department offers BA Hons & BA General courses in Sanskrit under the CBCS structure of Vidyasagar University, Midnapore.
